Credit & Risk Manager (Construction & Federal Contracting)

Tysons, VA 22102, US Full Time
Compensation: $130 to $170 Yearly

Credit & Risk Manager | Construction & Federal Contracting | Tysons Corner

Are you a proactive risk leader with strong construction credit expertise? We’re looking for a Credit & Risk Manager to lead enterprise-wide credit, payment protection, and risk management programs across commercial, federal, and construction projects.

This is a high-impact role focused on protecting assets, reducing bad debt exposure, preserving lien and bond rights, and strengthening financial safeguards throughout the project lifecycle. Rather than traditional collections, this position centers on early risk identification, sound credit decisions, and proactive issue prevention.

What You’ll Do

Credit Analysis & Customer Qualification

  • Perform in-depth credit evaluations for customers and project opportunities
  • Analyze financial statements, trade references, bank references, and credit reports
  • Set credit limits, payment terms, and internal risk ratings
  • Maintain customer risk classifications and ongoing monitoring processes
  • Identify emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies

Construction & Project Risk Management

  • Assess owner solvency, project funding sources, and payment security
  • Evaluate bonds, financing arrangements, and contractual protections
  • Review subcontractor risk and payment security, including surety bonding and Subcontract Default Insurance (SDI)
  • Partner with Legal, Contracts, Operations, Finance, and Risk teams to reduce exposure
  • Support vendor and subcontractor risk tracking through risk management systems

Lien Rights & Payment Protection

  • Administer processes that preserve lien rights, bond claim rights, and statutory payment protections
  • Ensure timely notices, filings, and supporting documentation are completed accurately
  • Coordinate with legal counsel on enforcement actions when needed
  • Track notice deadlines, filing requirements, and claim status across active projects

Lien Waiver & Release Management

  • Oversee issuance, review, and tracking of lien waivers and releases
  • Maintain controls around conditional and unconditional releases
  • Ensure documentation is complete and compliant

Project Lifecycle Oversight

  • Make sure payment protections are established from project award through closeout
  • Monitor billing activity, payment trends, contract changes, and other risk indicators
  • Escalate concerns quickly and recommend corrective action

Accounts Receivable Risk Support

  • Help resolve disputes and payment issues before they impact collections
  • Review delinquent accounts and recommend risk mitigation steps
  • Focus on preventing receivable problems rather than routine collections activity

If you’re ready to take ownership of a critical function that helps safeguard project profitability and supports smart growth, this could be an excellent next step in your career.
