Network Deployment Engineer

We are looking for a Network Deployment Engineer to support a contract assignment in Great Bend, KS & McCook, NE. This Contract position focuses on replacing legacy network hardware with standardized infrastructure at field locations, requiring strong hands-on installation skills and the ability to work independently in telecom spaces. The ideal candidate brings practical experience with routers, firewalls, switches, and structured cabling, along with the troubleshooting ability needed to keep site activations on track.

This is a 2 to 3 day project. If successfully completed, this would lead to a nationwide initiative to update all MDF sites.

Responsibilities:

• Remove outdated network equipment from racks and shelves and install replacement hardware that aligns with current infrastructure standards.

• Mount and connect routers, firewalls, and related network components using proper installation and cabling practices.

• Provide direct console connectivity to network devices during activation windows and support remote technical teams through screen sharing in Microsoft Teams.

• Reconnect copper and fiber patching between devices to restore site connectivity and maintain clean, organized cable routing.

• Perform on-site troubleshooting during cutovers to identify and resolve hardware, connectivity, or configuration issues efficiently.

• Validate network-related services after deployment by checking wireless access, printing functionality, and phone connectivity.

• Work independently at remote sites, manage installation tasks from start to finish, and communicate progress through timely status updates.

• Use standard field tools, laptop-based terminal access, and connectivity equipment to complete deployment activities safely and effectively.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience installing and deploying network infrastructure in field or site-based environments.
• Practical experience with router, firewall, and switch installation, including basic deployment support for SD-WAN-related equipment.
• Ability to work comfortably in telecom rooms, network closets, and rack-based installation spaces.
• Experience handling both Ethernet and fiber cabling, including patching, reconnection, and cable organization.
• Proficiency providing console access to network devices using a laptop, console cables, adapters, and terminal software such as PuTTY.
• Strong troubleshooting skills during network cutovers, activations, and post-installation validation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting remote teams during implementation activities.
• Must have access to required field equipment, including a laptop, console cable and adapters, hotspot or internet access, charging equipment, and basic installation tools.
