Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a hospitality organization on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage core financial activities with accuracy while supporting tax-related processes and day-to-day ledger operations. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to reliable reporting, maintain organized records, and help ensure compliance across essential accounting functions.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to support accurate monthly and periodic financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring proper classification of transactions.
• Assist with corporate tax matters, including supporting documentation and coordination related to corporate tax return preparation.
• Manage sales tax processes by reviewing taxable activity, calculating obligations, and helping ensure timely filings.
• Reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts to confirm the completeness and accuracy of financial data.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities by organizing records, validating entries, and following established deadlines.
• Work with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for reporting, tax compliance, and audit support.
• Help strengthen accounting accuracy by identifying issues, researching variances, and recommending practical corrections.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role with responsibility for general ledger activity.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax concepts and exposure to corporate tax return support activities.
• Familiarity with sales tax review, calculation, and filing requirements.
• Strong ability to prepare journal entries and perform account reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Understanding of core accounting principles and financial reporting processes.
• Proficiency in organizing financial records and managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
