Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a legal organization in Colorado Springs, Colorado on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This position blends core accounting responsibilities with financial systems support, making it well suited for someone who can maintain accurate records while improving the way finance processes operate within Acumatica. The role partners closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to strengthen reporting, streamline workflows, and support reliable financial operations.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the quality, structure, and reliability of financial information maintained in Acumatica.
• Act as the primary accounting resource for system-based processes, providing expertise on workflow usage and best practices.
• Work with finance leadership to expand and refine accounting activities supported within Acumatica.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation, process redesign, and system enhancements.
• Participate in the configuration, testing, rollout, and ongoing optimization of accounting modules and related workflows.
• Support data conversion efforts by validating records, reconciling balances, and resolving inconsistencies tied to enhancements or implementations.
• Create and maintain financial reports, dashboards, and supporting analysis for internal stakeholders.
• Record journal entries, complete account reconciliations, and help drive month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Assist with audit preparation, compliance needs, documentation of procedures, and training for team members using the accounting system.

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar finance role.
• Hands-on experience with general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
• Working knowledge of Acumatica or another ERP platform used to support accounting operations and reporting.
• Experience supporting financial reporting, close processes, and maintenance of accurate accounting records.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return processes.
• Ability to analyze data, investigate discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document procedures and train users.

Compensation

$35.00-$44.00 Hourly
