BILLING SPECIALIST

A growing commercial services company in Oceanside is looking for a Billing Specialist to join its accounting team. This role sits right between Accounting, Operations, and Customer Service, making it a great fit for someone who enjoys working with numbers but also likes communicating with people.

Billing Specialist is a particularly relevant title for North County right now—current postings include billing roles in Oceanside and San Marcos, including contract opportunities.

Your day will revolve around

💵 Getting invoices right

Review contracts, rates, services, and supporting information before invoices go out.

🔎 Finding discrepancies

Research incorrect charges, missing information, credits, and customer questions.

📞 Working with customers

Answer billing questions and help resolve account issues professionally.

📊 Keeping AR clean

Track outstanding invoices and work with the collections team when balances become overdue.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and distribute customer invoices
• Review billing documentation for accuracy
• Verify rates, quantities, services, and contract terms
• Research billing discrepancies
• Process credits, adjustments, and rebills
• Reconcile customer accounts
• Track open invoices and aging balances
• Communicate with customers regarding billing questions
• Partner with Sales and Operations to resolve account issues
• Maintain organized billing documentation
• Prepare recurring billing and AR reports
• Assist with month-end close and reconciliations

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of billing, AR, accounting, or finance experience
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with an ERP or billing platform
• Excellent attention to detail
• Comfortable communicating with customers about money
• Strong follow-up and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
• Construction, professional services, healthcare, or commercial services experience is a plus
