Controller
The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, budgeting, cash management, and compliance activities for the organization. This hands-on leadership role will manage the day-to-day accounting function while partnering with executive leadership to provide financial insights that support business growth and operational excellence. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong technical accounting expertise, experience in multiple industries, and proficiency in modern ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
- Analyze financial results and provide meaningful reporting and recommendations to executive leadership.
- Develop and maintain financial dashboards, KPIs, and management reports.
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, banking requirements, and company policies.
- Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
- Manage sales and use tax, property tax, and other regulatory filings.
- Support risk management initiatives and strengthen financial governance.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting processes.
- Monitor financial performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
- Develop financial models to support strategic planning and decision-making.
- Assist management with profitability analysis, pricing strategies, and cost management initiatives.
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital requirements.
- Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and treasury functions.
- Monitor cash positions and recommend strategies to optimize liquidity.
- Support debt compliance and financial covenant reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance processes.
- Utilize ERP systems and technology to improve reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Lead system implementations, upgrades, and process automation projects.
- Ensure data integrity and accuracy across financial systems.
Leadership
- Recruit, develop, mentor, and manage accounting staff.
- Foster a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with operational leaders to support business objectives and strategic initiatives.
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
- 3+ years of leadership experience managing accounting teams.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Power Query, complex formulas, and financial modeling.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion, Microsoft Dynamics 365, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
- Proven experience managing audits, internal controls, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Preferred
- CPA, CMA, or MBA.
- Experience in multiple industries including manufacturing, distribution, professional services, healthcare, logistics, or private equity-backed organizations.
- Experience with acquisitions, integrations, and business transformation initiatives.
- Exposure to BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting platforms.
Compensation
