Accounts Payable Specialist

We are seeking a detail oriented and organized Accounts Payable Specialist in the Portland area. This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices, maintaining strong vendor relationships, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, enjoys working with numbers, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high volume vendor invoices accurately and timely
• Review invoices for proper approvals, coding, and supporting documentation
• Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents
• Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH, and wire payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Research and respond to vendor inquiries
• Maintain accurate vendor records and files
• Assist with month end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
• Support audits by providing documentation and responding to requests
• Assist with process improvement initiatives and workflow efficiencies

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
• Strong understanding of AP processes and accounting fundamentals
• Experience with ERP or accounting software
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
• Experience processing high volume invoices
• Experience with three way matching and purchase order environments
• Experience in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, nonprofit, distribution, or professional services industries
• Knowledge of sales and use tax, 1099 reporting, and vendor compliance requirements
