The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Pittsburgh (http://www.physicsandastronomy.pitt.edu/) invites applications from outstanding individuals for the position of full professor in theoretical physics and Director of the Pittsburgh Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology Center (PITT PACC). This appointment, which is subject to budgetary approval, will begin with the Fall Term of 2027, or thereafter.

Applicants should have a PhD and be at the tenured level or equivalent and have a record of academic achievement that qualifies them for appointment at the rank of full professor. They further should have attained an internationally recognized level of achievement in theoretical particle physics, astrophysics and/or cosmology, demonstrated continuing leadership, and exhibit intellectual breadth and depth in the fields of study that are part of PITT PACC. The successful candidate is expected to further strengthen PITT PACC, which is financially supported by the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, as a prominent research center within the wider community and to provide intellectual leadership to support its continued growth and development. Qualified applicants should have the capacity to sustain and attract external funding for a creative, wide-ranging research program and have a strong record of collaborative activities. They also should have the potential to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
