This position will support schools in the Kansas City Region

Examples of Duties

100% - Career Advising to include:
Missouri Connections
Provide training, technical assistance, guidance, and best practices to support effective integration of Missouri Connections.
Participate in ongoing training to stay current on platform updates and enhancements.
ICAP (Individual Career and Academic Plan)
Support district and area career center staff in implementing a comprehensive, relevant, and student-centered ICAP process.
Student-Centered Events
Partner with districts to plan and support career-connected learning experiences, including
STEAM and career-focused events.

PLANNING/COMMUNICATION/COLLABORATION ACTIVITIES
Career Advisors will:
Coordinate and facilitate regional Missouri Connections trainings in alignment with DESE expectations and approval processes.
Deliver in-person and virtual trainings approved by DESE School Counseling staff.
Communicate and obtain approval for any additional training requests.
Ensure all conference presentations are approved prior to submission or delivery.
Collaborate closely with the Missouri Connections State Trainer to remain current on platform enhancements and overall functionality.
Collaborate with districts to implement comprehensive career development activities to support ICAPs.
Collaborate on a regular basis with DESE School Counseling staff to ensure regional and state career education initiatives are aligned.
Facilitate career planning opportunities such as regional STEAM events and career fairs in collaboration with Missouri Career Pathway Regional Consultants.

MEETING/CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES
Career Advisors will:
Attend and participate in conferences and workshops related to career education and workforce development as approved by DESE School Counseling staff, ensuring
any conference participation or presentations receive prior approval.
Attend DESE required RCA meetings.
Attend Missouri Connections state trainer required meetings.

REQUIRED TRAVEL
RCAs are expected to travel within their assigned RPDC region to provide Missouri Connections support, school visits, and regional training. Attendance at DESE-required meetings/conferences may also require statewide travel.

Typical Qualifications

Education:
Bachelor's degree in the following field's of study: education, education administration, education counseling, or appropriate related field required.
Master's degree in the following field's of study: educational leadership, career education and workforce development, counseling is preferred.

Experience:
Ten (10) years of experience in education, with an emphasis on career readiness and workforce development required.
Core knowledge of career education, Individual Career and Academic Plans (ICAPs), and Missouri Connections.
Experience in planning, coordinating, and facilitating student-centered events, with the ability to manage logistics and engage stakeholders.
Experience with group facilitation, presentation and adult learning

Licenses and Certifications
Valid teaching and/or administrators certificate.
Valid drivers license.
