Job Description Summary
The University of South Alabama’s Campus Recreation department is seeking to hire an Assistant Director, Campus Recreation Facilities and Personnel Management. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions

These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
  • Assists Executive Director with maintaining operations of the Student Recreation Center (SRC) while open for use, including evening hours and weekends.
  • Gives feedback on equipment and operations by engaging daily in facility walkthroughs and inspection of facility equipment.
  • Oversees the daily maintenance and inspection of all Campus Recreation facilities and infrastructure, determines task priorities, performs or supervises preventative maintenance to preserve appearance and function to all facility equipment.
  • Oversees all in-house and contracted maintenance to ensure proper upkeep, cleaning, storage, safety inspections, as well as inventory and ordering of all equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with the review, development and implementation of all rules, regulations, and policies governing the SRC as well as additional outdoor facilities.
  • Leads risk management practices within the SRC in collaboration with the Office of Risk Management at USA and reports safety concerns to the Executive Director, Campus Recreation.
  • Prepares written communications such as monthly and annual reports, financial and participation reports, scheduled maintenance and equipment inventory as needed.
  • Coordinates the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of the student assistants in the department.
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled student operational staff meetings and leadership training sessions.
  • Provides effective leadership to student assistants and maintenance of staff.
  • Provides coverage during evenings, weekends and special events as assigned as well as representing the Department of Campus Recreation in various University community functions, such as serving as a Co-safety Coordinator.
  • Oversees, schedules, facilitates, and coordinates all rental and special event requests for all areas of the Department of Campus Recreation to include the Student Recreation Center, Intramural Field Complex, and all Campus Recreation outdoor venues.
  • Communicates special event usage and needs Campus Recreation graduate assistants and program directors.
  • Assists Executive Director with managing Aquatics students payroll, PA’s, timesheet approval, and oversight of staff during working hours.
  • Serves as supervisor of Aquatics staff when Director is out of the office.
  • Monitors front desk operations to ensure consistent adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Utilize Fusion Rec Management software to help manage program enrollment and point-of-sale operations.
  • Generates and maintains required operational reports including daily deposits, refund requests, facility usage data, equipment status logs, and incident documentation.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
  • Related duties as required.
