POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Designer

  • This position will be the senior designer/drafter for the planning department for in house design projects and for test fits on outsourced design projects.
  • Manage 1 planning room employee assisting for all project construction documents; feasibility studies; any institution-wide planning activities
  • Responsible for attending client review meetings with the respective planner during the planning process.
  • Assess site conditions and recommend changes
  • Set and implement performance standards and reject work that is not up to shop standards; establish procedures and ensure they are being followed
  • Provide cosmetic recommendations for all projects
  • Create custom color boards as needed
  • Create and maintain a reference library
  • Layout, specify and order furniture for all renovations; monitor and assess all furniture delivery

Supervisor of the plan room

  • Set and implement performance standards and reject work that is not up to shop standards; establish procedures and ensure they are being followed
  • Establish design and design drawing standards
  • Establish shop priorities to serve the Institution's priorities
  • Coach staff: keep staff updated and trained on the technology necessary to perform their dutiesIssue daily work assignments and track progress by worker/task/project
  • Schedule/monitor employees schedule and authorize overtime as needed
  • Maintain data entry of all labor/materials and equipment to be charged back to projects
  • Responsible for getting all drawing sign-offs for approval from clients; project managers; operations and other specialty parties as necessary
  • Close out tickets in a timely manner; enforce close-out procedures so that the institutional data base and archives are current with renovation work
  • Maintain files of all Dept of Buildings approved plans
  • Maintain database drawings of all buildings to account for all renovation work (using FMS software).
  • Request for all hazardous waste reports for all areas under design

Project Manager

  • Project manage all outside consultants (architects, engineers, etc.) during the design and construction administration phase of major projects including preparing design team RFP’s
  • Identify all long lead items during the planning process
  • Coordinate with vendors and trades to ensure design feasibility
  • Research material purchases
  • Prepare paperwork for purchase requisitions related to design (ie furniture) or accessories.
  • Manage internal and external trades on cosmetic projects


QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or Planning and 5 years related experience in a management/supervisory role

Registered Architect highly preferred
Fluency in current version of AutoCAD
Able to utilize computer systems (i.e. ProCore; Work Order Management Systems & MS Project)
Must have experience in training and guiding employees and the ability to counsel employees.
Must have institutional experience.
Must be able to multi-task, as there will be multiple projects at any given time.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Have knowledge of NYC Code to navigate; interpret code requirements and/or manage code consultants





Minimum Salary Range:
USD $125,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range:
USD $150,000.00/Yr.
