Leidos is seeking an experienced Attorney to join its Corporate Legal Department as Assistant General Counsel supporting the Health and Services Sector from the company’s Reston, Virginia headquarters.

In this role, you will provide legal support to a dynamic and growing business, with a focus on government and commercial contracting matters, litigation, claims, disputes, and investigations. The position will report to the Senior Vice President, General Counsel for the Health and Services Sector and will work closely with colleagues across the Legal, Contracts, Ethics and Compliance, Procurement, Internal Audit, and Finance functions, as well as business leaders and program personnel across the sector.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Act as a legal subject matter expert on all aspects of U.S. federal government contracting to support fast-paced, high-growth Sector; independently support federal, state, and commercial contract formation, interpretation, administration, and performance, including the full lifecycle of federal contracts from opportunity pursuit through contract closeout.
  • Anticipate legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented advice to Sector leadership, senior management, and business management on complex, high-value matters across full Sector portfolio of agencies and programs.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements, to include subcontracts, teaming agreements, and licensing agreements, with Leidos Health and Services Sector customers, partners, suppliers, and vendors, with particular attention to federal contracting requirements and applicable FAR/DFARS flow-down provisions.
  • Oversee and manage claims, disputes, and bid protests, including developing strategy, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and overseeing outside counsel; draft and negotiate requests for equitable adjustment.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, contracts and supply chain experts, and other functional leads on a wide range of legal matters, to include litigation and pre-litigation matters and counseling involving privacy, cybersecurity, and intellectual property and data rights.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant legal experience, including substantial experience in federal government contracting at a leading law firm, government contractor, government agency, or a combination thereof.
  • Deep, hands-on experience with the full lifecycle of U.S. federal government contracts including opportunity pursuit and capture, solicitations and proposals, contract formation and negotiation, performance and administration, compliance, claims and disputes, audits and investigations, terminations, and contract closeout, with substantial knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, and applicable federal procurement laws and regulations.
  • Experience with bid protests, procurement counseling, organizational conflicts of interest, requests for equitable adjustment, data rights, and other complex federal procurement matters.
  • Experience with commercial contracting, including drafting and negotiating agreements, including licensing agreements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with legal colleagues, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to develop practical, comprehensive solutions to complex legal and business issues.
  • U.S. citizenship is required and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance as needed.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in a nationally recognized government contracts practice at a law firm or as a senior government contracts attorney at a major federal government contractor is strongly preferred; experience supporting federal healthcare programs or healthcare-related government contracts is also preferred.
  • Ability to brief executive leadership with succinct, well-supported legal recommendations.
  • Member in good standing of the Virginia State Bar or eligible for admission as Virginia Corporate Counsel.

Please note that the target salary range for this position is $210,000–$240,000, commensurate with the candidate’s experience, background, and qualifications.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $131,300.00 - $237,350.00
