Indirect Tax Accountant

Richmond, VA 23231, US Remote Temporary
Compensation: $57 to $66 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Accountant to support tax compliance activities for a manufacturing organization in Richmond, Virginia. This Contract position focuses on preparing and reviewing a high volume of tax filings while helping ensure accurate, timely reporting across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. The role is well suited for a tax specialist who can manage recurring deadlines, maintain strong work papers, and contribute across multiple areas of corporate tax compliance.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and complete assigned federal, state, and local tax returns with a strong focus on accuracy, documentation, and on-time submission.
• Support indirect tax compliance by handling sales and use tax activities and assisting with related calculations, reconciliations, and filings.
• Maintain organized tax work papers and supporting schedules to substantiate filings and meet internal and external compliance requirements.
• Contribute to corporate income tax reporting for U.S. entities by gathering data, analyzing records, and preparing required compliance documents.
• Assist with additional tax processes such as property tax reporting, transfer pricing support, informational reporting including Forms 1099, and selected international tax tasks.
• Help manage a large annual filing volume by tracking due dates, coordinating required information, and following established compliance procedures.
• Partner with internal staff to collect financial details, resolve filing questions, and support day-to-day tax operations.
• Provide general tax preparation support for the broader compliance function, including research and follow-up on assigned matters.

Qualifications:

• Experience preparing corporate tax returns and supporting multi-jurisdiction tax compliance activities.
• Working knowledge of sales and use tax rules, filings, and supporting documentation requirements.
• Ability to prepare accurate tax work papers, schedules, and reconciliations in a structured environment.
• Familiarity with tax preparation processes for federal, state, and local filings.
• Understanding of related compliance areas such as property tax, Forms 1099 reporting, or transfer pricing support.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage a high volume of deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency in analyzing financial information and translating it into complete, accurate tax filings.

Compensation

$57.00-$66.00 Hourly
