Accounting Transformation Manager (Individual Contributor)
We are looking for an experienced Accounting Transformation Manager to support core accounting operations and strengthen financial reporting processes in San Francisco, California. This individual contributor role focuses on improving the accuracy and efficiency of close activities, reconciliations, and audit readiness while partnering with stakeholders across the finance organization. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge and a hands-on approach to managing general ledger activity, journal entries, and reporting deliverables.
Responsibilities:
- Lead accounting transformation projects, including process improvements, system implementations, automation, and change initiatives.
- Serve as the accounting SME for system upgrades, ensuring strong controls and compliance with US GAAP and reporting requirements.
- Gather, document, and translate accounting requirements for new systems and processes.
- Support solution design, UAT, and financial system enhancements.
- Design and document future-state processes, workflows, and SOPs.
- Identify risks and implement effective financial and compliance controls.
- Standardize accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to build scalable, automated, audit-ready processes.
- Support change management, training, and post-implementation adoption.
- Track project progress, risks, and deliverables to meet business goals.
- Stay current on accounting technology, automation, and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or related field; CPA preferred.
- 6+ years of accounting experience with ERP implementations or process transformation projects.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX controls, financial reporting, and ERP systems.
- Skilled in process mapping, data analysis, and workflow optimization.
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices is a plus.
- Advanced Excel skills; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or Alteryx preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment abilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams and influence without direct authority.
- Experience in fast-growing, scalable business environments.
- Knowledge of multiple accounting functions, including close, consolidation, revenue, leasing, P2P, O2C, reporting, and controls.
- Able to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced setting.
Compensation
