Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to interim accounting support for construction company. This role is well suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can operate independently in a small accounting environment. The role focuses on core accounting operations, construction-focused financial activities, and reliable cash oversight.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the monthly close process, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and maintaining an accurate general ledger.

• Oversee project-based accounting activities by tracking costs, monitoring job performance, and supporting financial visibility across active work.

• Prepare and manage project invoicing, including progress billings, to help ensure timely and accurate customer billing.

• Review customer agreements and payment terms to confirm invoicing aligns with contractual requirements.

• Maintain schedules of values and update contract-related roll-forwards to support organized project financial records.

• Support day-to-day cash activities by monitoring balances, assisting with treasury-related tasks, and contributing to short-term liquidity planning.

• Develop and update cash forecasts to provide insight into expected inflows, outflows, and working capital needs.

• Research banking activity and complete reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and strengthen financial accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in a Senior Accountant or similar accounting role with ownership of month-end close activities.
• Strong background in construction or project-based accounting, including job costing and contract-related financial tracking.
• Practical experience handling progress billing and reviewing contract terms for billing accuracy.
• Solid skills in account reconciliation, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively within a lean accounting team.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online is strongly preferred.
• Comfortable supporting cash management and preparing cash flow forecasts in a fast-paced business environment.

Compensation

$45.00-$50.00 Hourly
