Business Immigration Analyst
National law firm specializing in business immigration has an immediate need for an entry-level Legal Assistant to join their team on a long-term contract basis. This role provides the opportunity to perform substantive legal work supporting business immigration matters, including preparing immigration applications, drafting and revising case-related correspondence and supporting documentation, and communicating with corporate representatives and foreign nationals. The firm provides comprehensive training and ongoing professional development, including immigration case strategy and preparation workshops, legal practice meetings, and a client service team structure that provides mentorship from senior professionals, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the legal field. The ideal candidate will have prior PERM or business immigration experience; however, the team is also open to a recent college graduate with demonstrated professional office experience, hold a Paralegal certification, or an early-career professional with 1–2+ years of experience in the legal field who brings strong organizational skills and an interest in immigration law. Candidates must be available to work onsite in the firm's San Francisco office five days per week.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze case documents and assist with preparing immigration applications and petitions for filing with the appropriate government agencies
- Draft and revise specialized support letters and legal documents detailing eligibility for visa classifications and other immigration benefits
- Review written materials for grammar, accuracy, clarity, and consistency and synthesize complex information into clear, concise narratives
- Draft professional correspondence with clients, including emails and letters
- Interface with corporate representatives and foreign nationals regarding case-related information and documentation
- Compile and summarize case data, status information, and reports
- Collect, organize, and maintain confidential client information and supporting case documentation
- Manage a high volume of matters and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Participate in ongoing training workshops, legal practice meetings, and updates addressing immigration case strategy, current developments, advanced topics, and client service
- Assist with additional legal projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with professional office experience (internships or fellowships alone are not sufficient), Paralegal certification, OR 1–2+ years of legal experience in a law firm or corporate legal setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including drafting and proofreading
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a high-volume workload
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with case/data management systems is a plus
- Positive attitude, client-service mindset, and interest in immigration law required; PERM/business immigration experience preferred but not required
- Must be available to work onsite Monday–Friday in San Francisco; remote work is not available
