Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accountant to join a financial services organization in Pleasant Hill, California. This Long-term Contract position is suited for someone who can manage core accounting activities, support timely close processes, and deliver accurate reporting in a fast-moving environment. The role offers the opportunity to contribute across multiple entities while partnering with operational and leadership teams to strengthen financial visibility and control.

Responsibilities:
• Record and post journal entries while maintaining accurate general ledger activity across assigned accounts and entities.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing account activity, and meeting reporting deadlines.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card transactions, and intercompany balances, resolving discrepancies promptly.
• Review balance sheet and income statement accounts, identify unusual fluctuations, and provide clear variance analysis to stakeholders.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and internal management reports that support informed business decisions.
• Track and account for sales, cash activity, inventory movements, and operating expenses within a high-volume, multi-location setting.
• Help uphold internal controls and accounting procedures by ensuring transactions are recorded consistently and in compliance with policy.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership to provide timely financial information, audit support, and process improvement recommendations.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on work with general ledger functions.
• Prior experience supporting restaurant chain, franchise, hospitality, or other multi-unit accounting environments.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
• Experience working effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume business setting.
• Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems, with the ability to manage and analyze large sets of financial data.
• Solid analytical, organizational, and communication skills with close attention to accuracy and detail.

Compensation

$38.00-$44.00 Hourly
