Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting operations for a contract position based in Sacramento, California. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can maintain accurate financial records, assist with month-end activities, and help prepare the organization for audit readiness. The role will contribute to core accounting functions by managing reconciliations, financial statement analysis, and day-to-day general ledger activity.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other adjusting transactions to maintain accurate financial records.
• Reconcile bank accounts and investigate variances to ensure cash activity is recorded correctly.
• Support the monthly and periodic close process by reviewing general ledger activity and resolving discrepancies.
• Assist with cash flow reporting, balance sheet account analysis, and income statement review.
• Help organize financial records and supporting documentation to prepare the books for audit activities.
• Contribute to financial statement review by identifying inconsistencies and supporting accuracy in reporting.
• Handle tax-related accounting tasks, including support for corporate tax and sales tax reporting requirements.
• Apply fund accounting principles where needed, including work related to nonprofit or restricted fund activity.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting with strong working knowledge of general ledger processes and account reconciliations.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet support schedules.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support.
• Ability to analyze financial statements and assist with financial statement audit preparation.
• Understanding of fund accounting, including nonprofit accounting environments, is preferred.
• Experience using accounting and integration tools such as SnapLogic is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a Contract role.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
