Property Accountant
Are you a Property Accountant seeking contract assignments? We are looking for a Property Accountant to work for clients in the South San Francisco surrounding area. The roles may vary between 4-6 month contract engagement. This role is responsible for the full-cycle accounting of a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties, ensuring accurate financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.

Responsibilities
- Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial and/or residential properties
- Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements and supporting schedules
- Complete month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Reconcile bank accounts, tenant ledgers, CAM reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts
- Analyze operating expenses, budgets, and variances
- Review rent rolls, lease abstracts, and tenant billing activity
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management functions
- Support internal and external audit requests
- Partner with property managers and operational leaders to resolve accounting discrepancies
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- 3+ years of Property Accounting experience
- Experience with commercial and/or residential real estate portfolios
- Strong understanding of month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Proficiency with property management/accounting software such as Yardi, MRI, AppFolio, RealPage, or similar platforms
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
- Ability to work onsite in South San Francisco for the duration of the engagement
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease accounting
- Public, private, real estate investment, REIT, or property management industry experience
- CPA or CPA-track candidates are encouraged to apply
