OVERVIEW:
Working as a full time Director of Internal Audit, you will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction to teams performing audit functions that assist the organization in managing and reducing business risk. Primary areas of focus include: ensuring and improving processes for compliance with financial and information technology controls; sustaining and developing global controls and internal operational audit procedures; and maturing Fastenal's corporate Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) environment. The position will report functionally to the Audit Committee and administratively to the Chief Financial Officer, while working closely with internal departments and serving as a key liaison to Fastenal's Board of Directors and external auditors.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Developing, managing, and directing audit teams across the global enterprise
o Managing an ERM process that provides high-level evaluation of organizational risks
o Developing a risk-based audit plan to mitigate operational, regulatory, and legal risks for the global enterprise
o Overseeing the documentation of a network of business processes and internal controls
o Supervising audit test plans to ensure compliance with internal controls
o Maintaining an audit framework to evaluate the security of Fastenal's IT and cyber assets and products
o Assisting with and expanding the use of internal controls, including design, documentation, and implementation
o Performing special projects, analysis, and other administrative tasks as necessary
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess a degree in Accounting/Finance or related degree or experience
o Possess at least five years of work experience in leadership roles
o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to coordinate across teams and departments
o Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and ability to improve business processes
o Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to motivate others
o Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning, and decision-making skills
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity, and teamwork
o Willingness to travel, including outside of North America
o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Familiarity with operating systems utilized by Fastenal, such as PeopleSoft (or comparable ERP systems) POS, WMS, etc.
o Familiarity with key audit standards and frameworks, such as Sox and COSO
o Proficient with PowerBI

FULL-TIME BENEFITS:
Fastenal offers a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees. This package includes Health, Life, Long Term Disability, and Dental Insurance, in addition to, paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, and 401(k) with an employer contribution.
COMPENSATION:
The base pay range for this position is $114,000 - 142,500. In addition to base pay, this position is also eligible for a bonus and/or commission.
