POSITION SUMMARY

The CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Technician is responsible for operating and programming CMM equipment to perform accurate dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies. This role ensures that manufactured products meet quality and design specifications, working closely with quality engineers, production staff, and machinists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Operate and program CMM machines using software such as PC-DMIS.
  • Operate and program Keyence IM series measurement machines.
  • Inspect and measure components to ensure they meet engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and other technical drawings.
  • Generate and maintain detailed inspection reports.
  • Calibrate measuring instruments and ensure proper maintenance of CMM equipment.
  • Communicate inspection results and quality issues with engineering and production teams.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conforming parts.
  • Maintain records in accordance with quality management systems.
  • Train other technicians or staff in the use of CMM equipment, if needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating and programming CMM equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and metrology.
  • Proficiency in CMM software (PC-DMIS preferred).
  • Experience with other inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Must align with Baker’s organizational culture and values.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, including but not limited to a nationwide criminal history review and other relevant verifications as determined by Baker Engineering.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in aerospace, automotive, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
  • Experience with CNC machining processes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity for handling precision instruments.
  • Occasionally lift and move parts up to 50 lbs.
