The Maintenance Mechanic III performs advanced maintenance and repair of equipment, supports clinical operations, conducts preventive maintenance, and provides equipment support and training.The Maintenance Mechanic III
- Assemble, maintain and repair various types of equipment, with emphasis on medical equipment in support of clinical operations. Accomplished by utilization of various test equipment and tools necessary for the job. Perform preventive maintenance in accordance to manufacturer's recommendations and departmental standards. Provide medical staff and nursing staff with equipment in-services as necessary. Provide backup and assistance to other Materials Management functions as needed.
- Investigates need for repairs, collaborating with other staff to ensure timely completion of all approved projects. Receives assignments, reviews work orders, priority status, time schedules and completes work as specified. Identifies and secures appropriate supplies and equipment, and selects appropriate process techniques.
- Performs a variety of general maintenance tasks such as preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and installation of mechanical equipment, fixtures, electrical and controls, plumbing, etc.; and performs all other associated related procedures and tasks. Installs, calibrates and maintains equipment in support of clinical operations, to include, beds, furnishings, and various other clinical devices with minimal oversight and/or direction from a supervisor.
- Reads and interprets drawings and blueprints, mechanical, structural and electrical. Schedules, plans and works with other staff and contractors on service agreements and projects. Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Provides feedback to Carilion employees and non-employees on work in progress and completed work.
- Makes necessary operational adjustments to electronic equipment. Make sensitivity, selectivity and accuracy measurements. Analyze electronic equipment for cause(s) of failure; isolate, test and replace defective parts. Maintain necessary spare parts inventory to support the repair and preventive maintenance of equipment in assigned area of responsibility.
- Documents and maintains all required records and information pertinent to assignments, work orders, instruction manuals, blueprints and other such materials as required.
- Trains other department staff to expand department capabilities. Provides assistance and backup to other positions such as driver and receiving staff as needed. Orients new employees.
- Provides project leadership. Updates practices as necessary to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. Researches new techniques, materials, equipment and makes recommendations to management.

- Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, conferences, etc.
- Experienced Maintenance Generalist. Performs a variety of basic, intermediate, and advanced mechanical and preventive maintenance, as well as inspections, installations, servicing, repair and overhaul of equipment and facilities. Work is typically performed on a variety of complex systems.

- Reads and interprets drawings and blueprints, mechanical, structural and electrical. Schedules, plans and works with other staff and contractors on construction and renovation projects.
- Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Provides feedback to Technicians on work in progress and completed work.
- Trains other department staff to expand department capabilities. Orients new employees.
- Provides project leadership.
What We Require:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Must have successfully completed a cardiac monitoring course prior to hire. Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP required & must be maintained during employment.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates leadership qualities at current level of practice. Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required. Must have command of TeleTracking, Kronos Scheduler, EPIC Care Inpatient, and GE ECG monitors. Assists management with direction, lead supervision, and delegation of clinical and non-clinical responsibilities to staff. Leads team in such a way as to promote sense of belonging, team effectiveness, accountability for clinical and personal conduct, low employee turnover and high morale. Encourages the growth and development of staff. Must have command of TeleTracking TransportTracking, Kronos Scheduler, Avaya phone system, MSWord, MSExcel, and MSPower Point. Major challenge: Assist the CM while completing department tasks. Must possess superb communication, interpersonal, team building, leadership, motivational, organizational, and customer service skills. Ability to lead and motivate staff to develop to their full potential. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Compensation Range:
$23.23 - $32.52Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
