Job Summary

As a Welding Inspector on Wagstaff’s Quality Assurance team, you will help uphold standards for precision, safety, and product quality. If you have weld and NDE inspection experience and want to grow in a hands-on manufacturing environment, we invite you to join our team. In this role, you will use inspection tools, technical knowledge, and sound judgment to support project success, communicate effectively with internal and external partners, and contribute to problem-solving and continuous improvement.


Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Inspect in-process and finished weldments, parts, materials, and processes for quality and compliance.
  • Perform MT, VT, PT, and dimensional inspections using required tools.
  • Audit welder performance for compliance with requirements.
  • Communicate quality issues to co-workers and management. 
  • Maintain and distribute quality reports and data in paper and electronic formats.
  • Use ERP and QMS systems to process quality information.
  • Follow company policies.
  • Support cross-training as needed.
  • Assist with specialized inspections.
  • Work overtime as needed to meet business objectives.
  • Support problem-solving, continuous improvement, Corrective Action, Non-Conformance, and internal audit processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Minimum: 

· Experience with AWS D1.1 welding code

· Minimum two years’ experience in weld fabrication as either welder or inspector. 

· Ability to read blueprints, interpret weld symbols, and use inspection tools such as weld gages, calipers, and tape measures.


Preferred – in addition to the above minimum requirements:

· Certified Weld Inspector (CWI)

· Experience with AWS D14.0, D14.1, D1.6, ASME Section IX

· Level II or higher ASNT certification for either: Visual Testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT)


Wagstaff promotes employee growth and continued development. Based on the candidate's successful performance, Wagstaff will support training to acquire CAWI, CWI, and ASNT certification.


Working Environment

This role is performed primarily in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moving mechanical parts, machinery, equipment, vibration, loud noise, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, electrical hazards, and heights. Some outdoor work may be required. Job-appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing are required.
