Accounts Payable Manager

We are looking for an accomplished interim Accounts Payable Manager to oversee end-to-end payable operations in Plano, Texas within a dynamic shared services setting. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a leader who can balance day-to-day execution with process refinement, team guidance, and strong vendor oversight. The role requires someone who can improve performance across high-volume workflows, support automation efforts, and maintain accuracy, compliance, and timely payment activity.

Responsibilities for the Interim Accounts Payable Manager - Contract Only

• Direct the daily flow of accounts payable activity, ensuring invoices, disbursements, vendor inquiries, and related transactions are completed accurately and on schedule.

• Manage a large-volume processing environment by prioritizing workflow queues, resolving exceptions, and reducing outstanding invoice backlogs.

• Lead, mentor, and support accounts payable team members and contingent staff to promote accountability, productivity, and consistent service delivery.

• Track operational results through aging reports, service metrics, and key performance indicators, using findings to strengthen efficiency and execution.

• Administer vendor file controls by overseeing setup standards, data accuracy, duplicate prevention measures, payment terms, and compliance requirements.

• Collaborate with finance, operations, and technology partners to enhance procure-to-pay activities and reinforce internal control practices.

• Contribute to automation initiatives and system improvements by helping optimize workflows and support enhancements tied to accounts payable processes.

• Investigate and resolve complex issues involving invoices, payments, vendor records, and system-related discrepancies.

• Support period-end activities through reconciliations, accrual coordination, reporting, and other close-related accounts payable tasks.

• Create and maintain process guides, procedural documentation, training resources, and leadership reporting with actionable recommendations.

Qualifications:

• At least 7 years of progressive experience in accounts payable, including full-cycle invoice and payment processing responsibilities.
• A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity within accounts payable, shared services, or a similarly complex finance function.
• Strong knowledge of procure-to-pay operations, vendor maintenance practices, payment controls, and high-volume invoice workflows.
• Advanced Excel capabilities, including formulas, Pivot Tables, and data analysis tools such as Power Query.
• Experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and other accounts payable automation or workflow platforms is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze operational issues, identify root causes, and implement practical process improvements.
• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate across finance, operations, and technology teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.

Compensation

$45.00-$50.00 Hourly
