Sr. Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and alignment with GAAP standards.
• Oversee general ledger activity, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and completion of month-end and year-end close cycles.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows to support timely invoice processing, payment activity, and collection efforts.
• Partner with operational and departmental leaders to build budgets, update forecasts, and compare actual results against financial plans.
• Maintain fixed asset records, monitor additions and disposals, and calculate depreciation for accurate reporting.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, support decision-making, and highlight opportunities to improve margins or control costs.
• Coordinate with external tax professionals to help ensure filings are completed accurately and in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Support internal and external audit activities by organizing documentation, responding to inquiries, and explaining accounting records as needed.
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial systems, including work related to ERP or system implementation initiatives.
• Use Great Plains, Excel, and related accounting tools to maintain records, produce reports, and streamline daily financial processes.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.• At least 3 years of accounting experience, with progressive responsibility in financial reporting, reconciliations, and close processes.
• Practical experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger maintenance, and fixed asset accounting.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and standard accounting practices.
• Hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience using Great Plains, QuickBooks, or similar accounting platforms.
• Ability to interpret financial information, perform meaningful analysis, and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a consistent focus on accuracy and follow-through.
• Experience in food production, seafood, manufacturing, or another inventory-driven environment is preferred.
