Public Senior Accountant
In this role, you will help ensure reliable financial reporting by overseeing key accounting activities, supporting the month-end close process, and maintaining accurate records across multiple areas of the ledger. This position works closely with Finance, Accounts Payable, and operational partners to strengthen reporting accuracy, investigate fluctuations, and uphold sound accounting practices.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate general ledger activity and period-end reporting.
• Complete bank and account reconciliations on a regular basis, resolving discrepancies promptly and documenting findings clearly.
• Contribute to month-end close activities by tracking deadlines, reviewing balances, and helping deliver timely financial results.
• Process and review expense-related accounting transactions to ensure appropriate coding and compliance with company policies.
• Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, depreciation tracking, and related account analysis.
• Support project accounting tasks by monitoring costs, recording financial activity, and helping maintain accurate project-related reporting.
• Partner with Accounts Payable and other internal teams to research issues, improve data accuracy, and support efficient transaction flow.
• Analyze account fluctuations and explain financial variances through clear reporting and follow-up with business partners.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including substantial work in general ledger environments.• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, accruals, reconciliations, and journal entry preparation.
• Strong knowledge of bank reconciliations, account analysis, and financial record maintenance.
• Hands-on experience with fixed assets and a solid understanding of related accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and reporting tasks.
• Experience working with ERP systems; familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
