Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Manage the full accounts payable cycle by reviewing invoices, confirming general ledger coding, coordinating approvals, and processing authorized payments through the designated expense platform.
• Create customer invoices and assist with ongoing billing activities to help maintain accurate and timely accounts receivable records.
• Record daily cash movements and monitor transactions to ensure financial activity is captured correctly in the accounting system.
• Complete bank reconciliations and support account analysis for balance sheet items to strengthen accuracy in financial reporting.
• Contribute to the monthly close by preparing assigned schedules, updating checklists, and completing routine close-related tasks on time.
• Build a working understanding of how operational transactions affect the general ledger and flow into financial statements.
• Provide broad support across accounting and finance operations, stepping in on special projects and process-related tasks as needed.
• Assist with efforts to bring additional accounting activities back in-house by helping support operational ownership within the finance function.
Qualifications:
• At least 1 year of accounting experience with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting operations.• Working knowledge of invoice processing, billing, account coding, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience using QuickBooks Online and the ability to learn systems such as Brex and Avalara quickly.
• Strong technical aptitude and comfort working with cloud-based accounting and finance tools.
• Solid attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across high-volume transactional work.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders on approvals and financial processes.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred.
• Availability to work 20 to 25 hours per week during standard business hours, including 1 day onsite in Boston, Massachusetts.
