Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This role will play a central part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting timely close activities, and delivering reliable reporting that helps guide business decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments while upholding internal controls and compliance standards.
Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close cycle to ensure financial results are completed accurately and on schedule.
• Produce financial statements and other recurring reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders.
• Investigate changes in balance sheet and income statement accounts and explain notable variances through clear analysis.
• Strengthen accounting procedures by monitoring existing controls and recommending practical improvements to reduce risk and increase accuracy.
• Coordinate audit support by organizing records, responding to information requests, and assisting both internal and external audit teams.
• Assist with specialized accounting areas such as intercompany transactions, consolidated reporting, fixed assets, and bank reconciliations.
• Partner with finance, payroll, tax, and other business teams to support cross-functional initiatives and improve financial workflows.
• Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance reporting efficiency, and support automation efforts within the accounting function.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• At least 4 years of accounting experience, with corporate accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of general ledger accounting, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliation practices.
• Hands-on experience managing month-end close activities, including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Excel, including advanced spreadsheet functions used for financial analysis and reporting.
• Familiarity with accounting platforms such as Oracle NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Workday, QuickBooks, or similar ERP systems.
