AP Specialist

A well-established organization in the Northern Peninsula is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to support the accounting team during a critical project and coverage period. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented AP professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and has experience processing purchase order-based invoices.

Experience within a public sector, government, or nonprofit organization is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and code a high volume of accounts payable invoices, averaging 100+ invoices per week
• Perform 3-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation
• Review invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and coding
• Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and vendor payment issues
• Maintain vendor records and assist with vendor communications
• Ensure timely and accurate payment processing
• Reconcile AP transactions and support month-end close activities
• Assist with audit requests and documentation as needed
• Follow established internal controls, policies, and procedures

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 3+ years of recent Accounts Payable experience
• Demonstrated experience processing 100+ invoices weekly
• Strong experience working with purchase orders and PO-based invoicing
• Knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable processes
• Experience with ERP or accounting systems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in public sector, government, or nonprofit accounting environments
• Exposure to fund accounting or grant-funded organizations
• Experience supporting audits and compliance-related activities
