The Visibility Director serves as a strategic advisor to the Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, leading initiatives that enhance the School’s visibility, reputation, and impact. This role develops and executes creative communications campaigns aligned with the Dean’s priorities, leveraging expertise in visual storytelling, photography, videography, graphic design, and multimedia production. As a member of the School’s Communications team, the Visibility Director collaborates with senior leadership, faculty, staff, and departments to promote the School’s mission, achievements, and contributions to public health.
A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field and at least five (5) years of relevant professional experience are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
Job Summary
Oversees strategy and implementation of priority communications projects requiring cross-disciplinary and integrated approaches and serves as central campaign coordinator. Leads team and collaborates with senior leadership and internal clients on high-level communications campaigns. Establishes performance goals and measures and ensures adherence to style, branding, and regulations. Develops core messaging and creates campaign content.
Essential Functions
Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and effectively both in writing and verbally; must possess high-end reasoning and problem-solving abilities; must be able to manage multiple priorities and tasks, often under deadlines. The successful candidate will possess experience using multiple communications platforms and digital marketing tools.
Physical Effort
The position is largely sedentary, but the employee must be able to travel within the SPH building and across the University campus and surrounding area to attend meetings and events at various locations. Must be able to lift and transport equipment such as a laptop computer.
