| Job Summary |
The Medical Center Library invites applications for the position of Associate Director for Health Sciences Education and Engagement, a leadership role responsible for advancing library instruction, outreach, and engagement across the six allied health colleges served by the Medical Center Library: Dentistry, Health Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health.
Reporting to the Director of the Medical Center Library, the Associate Director provides strategic leadership for educational programming, liaison services, and engagement initiatives that support teaching, learning, and research on the medical campus. The Associate Director will serve in a team-based liaison model and supervise faculty librarians.
Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for library education, instruction, and engagement programs supporting all six health colleges
Perform liaison duties within a team model, including instruction, literature searching, evidence synthesis support, research support, and building faculty partnership, while collaborating with library colleagues to ensure consistency and shared expertise across disciplines
Supervise a team of faculty librarians and foster a collaborative, cross-library approach to service development and delivery
Coordinate instruction, workshops, and orientation programs across the medical campus, aligning with broader UK Libraries initiatives and partnerships
Lead the planning, development, and delivery of the UK Libraries Research Workshop Series
Integrate outreach and engagement into educational programs to increase awareness and impact of library services
Support the development of online learning objects, tutorials, and instructional materials
Promote learner centered teaching practices that address a range of different learning needs
Assess educational and engagement activities to inform continuous improvement contribute to Libraries-wide assessment efforts
Serve as a member of the Medical Center Library Leadership Team
Required Qualifications Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA accredited program accredited program
Relevant professional experience in an academic or health sciences library
Demonstrated experience with instruction, teaching, or educational programming
Supervisory or leadership experience
Strong interpersonal, communication, and project management skills
Preferred Qualifications Experience coordinating instruction programs or supervising librarians with instruction responsibilities
Familiarity with instructional design, educational technologies, or online learning environments
Experience with instructional effectiveness and/or program impact
Experience working in collaborative, team-based service models
This position participates in planning, shared governance, and UK Libraries-wide faculty activities. This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure eligible position in the Librarian Title Series (open rank) which requires scholarship, professional development, and service that contributes to the effectiveness of UK Libraries, the university, and the profession as outlined in Administrative Regulation 2:7 (https://regs.uky.edu/administrative-regulation/ar-27). Your Distribution of Effort (DOE) range: Primary assignment: 70-80%, Service/Prof. development and scholarship 20-30% and is reviewed at minimum annually each year. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The minimum salary for a Librarian IV is $57,000 and for a Librarian III is $62,500. All career levels are encouraged to apply.
