We are currently seeking a Lead Software Engineer to provide technical leadership in the development of software, automation, and infrastructure tooling for advanced military electronics and computing products operating in Windows and Linux environments. This role will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, program management, business development, customers, and end users in a fast-paced environment where prototypes are developed rapidly.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain systems software, automation, and infrastructure tooling using C/C++, C#, Python, PowerShell, or similar languages.
- Develop Windows and Linux services, utilities, diagnostic tools, APIs, automation frameworks, and monitoring solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving applications, operating systems, virtualization, networking, storage, and hardware.
- Deploy, configure, automate, and troubleshoot virtualized environments.
- Lead root-cause analysis and develop permanent software and system improvements to improve reliability and performance.
- Implement secure configurations, system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and access controls.
- Collaborate with software, infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, DevOps, and operations teams.
- Provide technical leadership to cross-functional development teams and support customer integration, testing, demonstrations, and technical activities.
- Travel up to 10%, including occasional international travel.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong experience with C/C++, C#/.NET, Python, and PowerShell.
- Strong knowledge of operating systems, virtualization, TCP/IP networking, storage, and system integration.
- Experience with REST APIs, HTTP, JSON, authentication, and systems integration.
- Strong troubleshooting, system-level debugging, performance analysis, and root-cause analysis skills.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, deployment, monitoring, and operational software.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices including vulnerability management, patching, least privilege, and system hardening.
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple programs.
- U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 7+ years of software development experience in complex Windows/Linux environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with high-speed networking (10/25/40/100GbE) and performance tuning.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other container technologies.
- Experience with NIST, STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, FIPS, CVE remediation, or vulnerability scanning.
- Experience with WMI/CIM, WinRM, SSH, IPMI, Redfish, iDRAC, or iLO.
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time.
