Your Mission:
Responsible for supporting manufacturing engineering activities related to product design, steel processing, fabrication, and assembly. This role assists in developing manufacturing documentation, supporting production processes, and ensuring manufacturing requirements align with product design intent.
The Manufacturing Engineer works with engineering, production, quality, and project teams to learn and apply manufacturing engineering principles while supporting process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and safe manufacturing operations.
Explore the Depth of the Role:
- Assist in the development of work packages that define the sequence of operations, part routings, and product structures within ERP software.
- Support manufacturing engineering activities by applying basic knowledge of fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
- Use CAD software to create or modify engineering drawings and assist with fixture or tooling designs.
- Assist with material takeoffs to identify raw materials, processes, and hardware required for projects.
- Support programming of cutting machines using nesting software under guidance.
- Review design documentation and assist in ensuring specifications and requirements are incorporated into manufacturing work packages.
- Work with production teams to support fabrication and assembly processes.
- Assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues and implementing process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal departments such as engineering, quality, and production to support project requirements.
- Develop familiarity with product construction, manufacturing processes, and shop operations.
- Participate in continuous improvement and departmental development initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Mission Readiness:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology (Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial) or related field from an accredited college, university or technical school preferred.
- 1+ years of related experience and/or training in engineering or manufacturing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Basic experience or coursework using SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Basic experience or coursework using AutoCAD.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under guidance while developing technical skills.
- Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic understanding of fabrication and assembly practices is preferred.
- Ability to collaborate with coworkers and support cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn manufacturing processes, shop operations, and production workflows.
- Basic computer proficiency and familiarity with engineering software tools.
- Preferred exposure to ERP systems, production planning, or shop floor operations through coursework, internship, or work experience.
Travel Requirements:
Between facilities as needed.
Physical Requirements:
- May be required to stand, walk, sit, reach/pull/push with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel regularly.
- May lift or carry 50lbs. Weights exceeding 50lbs will require mechanical means to maneuver.
