Overview

What We’re Looking For
As a Cloud Software Engineer at CyberPoint, you will design, develop, integrate, test and maintain software solutions in cloud-based environments supporting mission-critical applications. You will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through development, integration, testing, deployment, sustainment and troubleshooting.

The ideal candidate brings strong software development experience along with hands-on knowledge of AWS cloud technologies, distributed systems, DevOps practices and Linux environments. You will work with modern cloud architectures and emerging technologies, including AI/ML capabilities, while developing scalable solutions that meet complex mission requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Analyze requirements and design, develop, integrate, test, deploy and maintain software solutions in cloud environments.
  • Develop software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C or C++.
  • Design and develop software for distributed and highly scalable environments.
  • Develop and integrate RESTful services, APIs, and cloud-based applications.
  • Work with AWS cloud architecture, SDKs, APIs, and cloud services.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as AWS CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Build and support modern CI/CD pipelines for automated software development, testing, deployment and monitoring.
  • Develop and integrate containerized application and microservices using technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Work with distributed data technologies and open-source NoSQL platforms.
  • Develop solutions using distributed computing technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop, MapReduce, Hive or related technologies.
  • Work with distributed file systems such as HDFS and data serialization formats such as Python, Ruby, Perl or similar.
  • Apply object-oriented design principles to software development.
  • Integrate an extended open-source and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
  • Develop and execute software test plans, test scripts and validation activities.
  • Diagnose and resolve software issues throughout the development and operational lifecycle.
  • Support the development and deployment of data-driven and event-driven analytics.
  • Work with modern AI technologies, including Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Apply observability and monitoring practices to support reliable, scalable applications.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, cloud engineers, data professionals and other technical team members in an Agile development environment.
  • Author and maintain technical documentation in support of software development projects.
This position is 100% onsite and requires an active TS/SCI+FSP Security Clearance.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • US Citizenship
  • Active TS/SCI + Full Scope Polygraph
  • At least 5 years of experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • At least 4 years of experience developing software using high-level programming languages such as Java, C or C++.
  • At least 3 years of experience in software integration and software testing, including developing implementing test plans and test scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience with open-source NoSQL products supporting highly distributed and massively parallel computing environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with distributed computing technologies such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive or Pig.
  • Demonstrated experience with Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
  • Demonstrated experience with data serialization formats such as JSON and/or BSON.
  • Demonstrated experience developing RESTful services.
  • Demonstrated experience with requirements analysis and design of at least one object-oriented system.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and extending open-source and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and experience creating technical documentation in support of software development projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is highly desired and may be considered equivalent to 2 years of experince.
  • Master's degree in a technical field may be considered equivalent to 4 years of experience. Technical fields may include Mathematics, Information Systems, Engineering or similar disciplines.
  • Must possess or be willing to obtain prior to start one of the following certifications:
    • AWS Certified Developer - Associate
    • AWS Certified Machine Learning - Associate
    • AWS Certified Machine Learning - Specialty
    • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional
    • Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience deploying application in AWS or other cloud environments.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS cloud architecture, SDKs, APIs, and cloud service integration.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience with LLMs, Agentic AI and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).
  • Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.
  • Experience developing Java applications for distributed systems, including networking, multithreading and concurrency.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containers and microservices architectures.
  • Experience with Agile software development and source code management practices and tools.
  • Strong Linux fundamentals and scripting experience with Python, Ruby, Perl or similar languages.
  • Knowledge of cloud security and compliance best practices.
  • Experience developing and deploying data-driven or event-driven analytics.
  • Experience working with analytics, taxonomies, ontologies, data models, schemas or data dictionaries.
