Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Somerville, Massachusetts. This opportunity is ideal for someone who can manage financial records accurately, contribute to tax-related processes, and help maintain reliable reporting. The role will work across general ledger activities, journal entry preparation, and compliance-focused accounting tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to keep financial records accurate and up to date.
• Maintain general ledger accounts, perform reconciliations, and investigate variances as needed.
• Support corporate tax activities, including assisting with return preparation and related documentation.
• Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, calculating obligations, and helping ensure timely filings.
• Compile financial data and supporting schedules for month-end and periodic reporting cycles.
• Review accounting records for completeness and consistency while identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information needed for tax, reporting, and audit support.
• Help strengthen accounting workflows and documentation to promote accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting or a similar accounting role.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and corporate tax return support.
• Experience handling or assisting with sales tax reporting and compliance activities.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage accurate financial records.
• Proficiency in reviewing reconciliations, identifying discrepancies, and resolving issues efficiently.
• Ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a contract-based environment.

Compensation

$23.75-$27.50 Hourly
