In House Counsel
We are seeking an In-House Employment Counsel to support a prominent client's employment and labor-related legal needs. This position will partner closely with business leaders, human resources, labor relations, and operations to provide practical legal guidance, promote consistent workplace practices, and mitigate employment-related risk.
Responsibilities
- Advise managers, human resources professionals, and business leaders on employment law matters, including workplace conduct, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, accommodations, and policy interpretation.
- Serve as a key legal resource for complex or escalated employee relations matters, partnering with senior legal leadership to achieve timely and effective resolutions.
- Conduct workplace investigations, compliance reviews, and audits at operating locations; prepare written findings and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Develop and deliver employment law and employee relations training for supervisors, managers, and human resources teams.
- Partner with labor relations and operational leadership to interpret collective bargaining agreements and advise on union-related workplace matters.
- Identify emerging employment risks and develop proactive strategies to prevent disputes and strengthen compliance.
- Respond to workforce-related legal inquiries with practical, business-minded guidance that balances operational objectives with legal requirements.
- Support the consistent interpretation and implementation of employment policies across locations.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor degree and active license to practice law.
• Strong knowledge of workplace compliance, employee relations, investigations, and disciplinary practices.
• Ability to interpret policies, assess legal risk, and provide clear, business-oriented counsel to management.
• Experience delivering training on employment law topics to supervisors, managers, or HR professionals.
• Familiarity with collective bargaining agreement interpretation and collaboration with labor relations teams.
• Background in contract review, commercial agreements, or corporate legal matters is beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare clear summaries, recommendations, and guidance.
Compensation
