Commercial and Product Counsel
Startup company looking to hire a skilled Commercial and Product Counsel Attorney in San Francisco, California. This position supports a growing company providing practical legal guidance across contracts, product, privacy, and operational matters.
Responsibilities:
• Advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, offering clear recommendations that balance legal risk with business objectives.
• Lead contract review and negotiation efforts, identifying key obligations, unusual provisions, and areas that require escalation or revision.
• Provide day-to-day counsel on product and privacy questions that arise.
• Collaborate with customer legal, product, and business stakeholders to keep matters progressing efficiently and accurately.
• Use internal legal technology and workflow tools to support high-quality reviews and contribute ideas that improve speed and consistency.
• Create and refine playbooks, templates, and guidance materials for recurring contract and product-related issues.
• Identify recurring bottlenecks in legal workflows and implement practical improvements to strengthen service delivery.
• Work cross-functionally with operations, product, and engineering teams to help enhance how legal support is delivered at scale.
Qualifications:
• J.D. degree and active California bar membership in good standing.
• 5-8 years of legal experience with substantial exposure to commercial contracts and negotiations.
• Demonstrated ability to advise on commercial agreements within an in-house or closely aligned client-facing environment.
• Working knowledge of product counseling and privacy issues affecting technology companies.
• Strong drafting, issue-spotting, and risk assessment skills with careful attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting while maintaining high quality standards.
• Comfort working across legal, operational, and technical teams to improve processes and outcomes.

Compensation
