Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a financial services organization in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This contract-to-permanent position is well suited for an individual who can manage routine accounting activities, contribute to accurate financial reporting, and help maintain strong internal controls. The ideal candidate brings a solid foundation in general ledger work, month-end close activities, and account analysis, along with strong Excel skills and experience working in SAP.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure reporting accuracy.

• Assist with month-end close tasks, including account analysis and supporting schedules.

• Compile financial data and help produce internal financial statements and related reports.

• Support audit activities by organizing documentation and responding to information requests.

• Review accounting transactions for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established procedures.

• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze balances, track reconciliations, and prepare reporting support.

• Work within SAP to record transactions, retrieve financial information, and support day-to-day accounting processes.

Qualifications:

• Experience performing journal entry preparation and general ledger accounting functions.
• Working knowledge of month-end close procedures and financial statement support.
• Familiarity with audit processes and the ability to prepare organized supporting documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reconciliations, and reporting tasks.
• Experience using SAP in an accounting or finance environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines in a structured setting.

Compensation

$25.00-$27.00 Hourly
