Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting and tax functions for an organization based in Ridgeland, South Carolina. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can maintain accurate financial records, prepare tax-related documentation, and contribute to reliable month-end and ongoing accounting activities. The role requires strong knowledge of general ledger processes, journal entry preparation, and corporate and sales tax compliance.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to support daily and month-end accounting operations.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure financial data is complete and accurate.
• Assist with the preparation of corporate tax filings and related supporting schedules.
• Manage sales tax reporting activities and help ensure timely and accurate submissions.
• Review financial transactions for proper classification and compliance with accounting standards.
• Support account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies to resolve issues efficiently.
• Compile documentation and reports needed for internal review and external tax requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Working knowledge of corporate tax principles and tax return preparation.
• Experience handling sales tax reporting and compliance tasks.
• Proficiency in preparing and posting journal entries.
• Strong understanding of general ledger structure and account reconciliation.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage accuracy across financial records.
• Ability to organize priorities and meet deadlines in a contract accounting environment.

Compensation

$28.00-$33.00 Hourly
