Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Review historical accounting activity in QuickBooks Online, identify inconsistencies, and bring records up to date.
• Analyze transactions posted to incorrect general ledger accounts and make appropriate corrections to improve reporting accuracy.
• Perform reconciliations across bank accounts, credit cards, and key balance sheet accounts to ensure complete and reliable financial data.
• Investigate accounting variances, resolve outstanding issues, and help maintain books that are ready for review and audit support.
• Assist with period-end close activities by preparing schedules, validating balances, and organizing supporting documentation.
• Coordinate financial records and backup materials for external tax and advisory partners, including Baker Tilly.
• Maintain daily accounting operations involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, journal entries, and general ledger activity.
• Recommend and implement stronger accounting practices, internal controls, and QuickBooks Online processes to support the office’s growth.
• Provide accounting support related to future system migration efforts from QuickBooks Online to Yardi as needed.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a small business, family office, or similarly hands-on environment.• Practical experience managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger activity, and journal entries.
• Strong background in bank and account reconciliations, with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and confidence working within detailed transaction-level accounting records.
• Familiarity with financial close support, account analysis, and preparation of schedules for external advisors or tax professionals.
• Working knowledge of accounting controls and best practices for maintaining accurate and organized financial records.
• Exposure to Yardi is preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
