The Grants/Contracts Coordinator applies for and monitors grant funds for OHSU programs and projects, and/or administers contracts with other governmental agencies or the public to provide services in compliance with applicable regulations and OHSU policy. Work includes Pre-Award and/or Post-Award activities.
This is the first level of a three-level series. It differs from the Senior Grants/Contracts Coordinator in requiring a higher level of direct supervision, less independent decision-making, and a narrower scope of responsibility.
This position is part of the Sponsored Project Administration & Finance Shared Service team (SAT), which supports a combination of OHSU programs, departments, and institutes with comprehensive sponsored project administration and financial management for primary appointed faculty’s grants, contracts, clinical trials, and sponsored project programs.
The Grants/Contracts Coordinator is responsible for all pre-award sponsored project administration, including: reviewing grant, subcontract, and contract proposals and applications; ensuring compliance with multiple funding agency requirements, applicable laws, and University policy; contract and award negotiation; grant receipt and processing; pre-award correspondence and follow-up; and post-award amendments and negotiation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree AND one year of grant/contract administration experience, OR Three years of grants and contracts administration experience OR Equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Previous grant experience as an Administrative Coordinator or other similar position.
- Knowledge of grant application project management and preparation with experience in an academic medical center in the areas of both clinical and basic science. Excellent writing and communication skills are required.
- Must have excellent customer service skills and expertise in OHSU electronic research administration (e.g., InfoEd).
- Skills in word processing, graphics, and databases, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe Photoshop, are required.
- Ability to adapt to ever-changing technology. Businesslike, excellent interpersonal skills in dealing with personnel at all levels; must be self-motivated.
- The candidate must be absolutely reliable regarding deadlines and work accuracy. The candidate must also have efficient and organized work habits and be flexible to handle needs as they arise.
Note: Some positions may also require experience locating sources of available grant funds and developing programs that qualify for those funds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification from the Society of Research Administrators (CRA).
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Project Management.
