Position Description:
Adena Corporation is seeking an experienced Shop Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operations of our fabrication shop. This position is responsible for coordinating shop personnel and production activities to ensure fabrication projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with company quality standards.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in welding and metal fabrication, strong leadership skills, and the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and work closely with project teams to keep work moving.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Schedule, coordinate, and oversee daily work assignments for welders, fabricators, and other shop personnel.
- Supervise welding, metal fabrication, assembly, and related shop activities to ensure production schedules and quality expectations are met.
- Review fabrication drawings, work orders, specifications, and project schedules to prioritize work and allocate labor and resources.
- Ensure fabricated products meet company quality standards, project specifications, and customer requirements.
- Train and coach employees on proper fabrication techniques, welding procedures, equipment operation, and preventive maintenance.
- Monitor employee productivity, workmanship, and performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Coordinate with Project Management, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments to address production needs and maintain project schedules.
- Identify and troubleshoot fabrication or production challenges to minimize delays and maintain workflow.
- Ensure welding equipment, fabrication tools, and shop machinery are properly operated, inspected, and maintained.
- Monitor fabrication materials, consumables, and shop supplies and communicate material or equipment needs to management.
- Promote and enforce company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and safe work practices throughout the shop.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and productive shop environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in welding, metal fabrication, manufacturing, or a related field required.
- Previous lead, foreman, or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding and metal fabrication processes, equipment, and shop practices.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects and production priorities.
- Ability to effectively lead, train, and hold shop employees accountable for safety, quality, and productivity.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements and fabrication shop safety practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively with field operations, project management, engineering, and purchasing teams.
