Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a mission-driven non-profit organization in Cincinnati, Ohio. This Contract to permanent position will work a 35-40-hour per week schedule initially and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative finance team, contributing to essential accounting functions including accounts receivable management, general ledger maintenance, and compliance documentation. The role also involves supporting month-end and year-end close processes, along with ad-hoc accounting projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and process accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and timeliness.

• Conduct general ledger reconciliations and manage journal entries.

• Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure financial records are complete.

• Assist in special accounting projects and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.

• Maintain organized documentation for compliance and audit purposes.

• Utilize fund accounting systems to manage financial data effectively.

• Create detailed reports and perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel.

• Collaborate with the Controller, Accounts Payable team member, and finance team to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience, especially in accounts receivable and general ledger functions; non-profit experience is a plus.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for creating reports and analyzing data.

• Familiarity with accounting systems such as Blackbaud Financial is preferred but not mandatory.

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting is strongly preferred.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and manage multiple stakeholders.

• Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and clear communication abilities.

• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, and journal entries is beneficial.

• Experience with fund accounting systems is an advantage.
