Bookkeeper
Responsibilities:
• Manage part-time bookkeeping support for maternity leave coverage, maintaining accuracy across daily accounting activities for approximately 20 hours each week.
• Process check runs on site once per week in North Charleston, South Carolina, with Thursday availability strongly preferred.
• Handle construction-related billing tasks, including progress billing and retainage tracking, while keeping financial records current and organized.
• Maintain accurate job costing data and ensure project-related financial information is properly reflected in the accounting system.
• Work within QuickBooks Online and connected estimating or operational software to review transactions and confirm data is syncing correctly between systems.
• Investigate mismatched balances, billing variances, and reconciliation issues by tracing data across platforms and resolving inconsistencies.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation activities to help maintain reliable financial reporting.
• Learn specialized software workflows through training materials and internal documentation, then apply that knowledge effectively in day-to-day work.
• Record and organize process notes to help clarify procedures and improve consistency across billing and bookkeeping tasks.
Qualifications:
• Demonstrated experience using QuickBooks Online in a hands-on bookkeeping or accounting support role.• Background in construction accounting, including billing processes tied to project-based work.
• Practical knowledge of progress billing, retainage, and AIA-style invoicing.
• Experience with job costing and tracking financial activity at the project level.
• Ability to work across multiple systems and reconcile information between operational software and accounting records.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve sync, reconciliation, or reporting discrepancies.
• Comfortable learning unfamiliar software through videos, guides, and independent problem-solving.
• Proactive approach with the ability to document procedures and contribute beyond routine data entry.
Compensation
