Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support billing and accounts receivable operations in Columbia, Maryland. This Long-term Contract opportunity is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in QuickBooks Enterprise and comfortable handling customer invoicing with varying documentation requirements. The person in this role will help keep billing accurate, timely, and well organized while responding effectively to customer questions and payment issues.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and issue customer invoices in QuickBooks Enterprise, ensuring each bill is completed accurately and on schedule.
• Coordinate billing requests that involve client-specific formats, backup documents, approval steps, and electronic signature routing.
• Monitor outstanding receivables, record incoming payments, and follow up on unpaid balances to support healthy cash flow.
• Review invoices for compliance with customer guidelines and correct any errors before submission.
• Investigate billing questions, identify the source of discrepancies, and work with stakeholders to resolve issues promptly.
• Maintain complete and organized records of invoices, payment activity, and supporting documentation for audit readiness.
• Apply established billing practices while adjusting to specialized customer requirements and changing workload needs.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience using QuickBooks Enterprise or QuickBooks Desktop in a billing or accounting environment.
• Background in customer invoicing, billing administration, and accounts receivable processes.
• Ability to manage detailed invoice requirements and assemble supporting materials accurately.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing error-free financial documentation.
• Effective problem-solving skills for resolving invoice discrepancies and responding to customer inquiries.
• Comfortable working in either a part-time or permanent contract capacity based on business needs.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Compensation

$29.69-$34.38 Hourly
