Legal Assistant
Responsibilities:
• Support attorneys with legal and administrative tasks related to land use, real estate, and development transactions.
• Prepare, edit, and proofread a range of legal materials such as ordinances, resolutions, contracts, memoranda, and business correspondence.
• Format, revise, and assemble legal documents and letters using advanced Microsoft Word features and document production tools.
• Review draft materials from attorneys for accuracy, consistency, and completeness before final distribution.
• Assist with contract-related documentation and coordination as matters are routed through the legal department.
• Manage shared administrative duties, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, handling incoming mail, and coordinating with external agencies and partner organizations.
• Order and track office supplies while helping maintain efficient day-to-day departmental operations.
• Provide support during onboarding and knowledge transfer from the departing team member, and take on additional projects as business needs evolve.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience in a legal assistant role, with a strong background in transactional or real estate law.• Hands-on experience reviewing leases, template agreements, and other real estate-related legal documents.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, including document formatting, editing, and file management.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage detailed assignments with accuracy.
• Experience supporting commercial real estate or development matters; government or public agency experience is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with land use matters, local ordinances, and legal documentation used in public-sector or commercial environments.
• Willingness to work fully onsite in San Diego, California and contribute to both legal support and general administrative functions.
