Bookkeeper

We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations for a company based in Santa Barbara, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can maintain accurate financial records, manage core bookkeeping activities, and contribute to a smooth month-end close process. The role requires a strong grasp of general ledger activity, reconciliations, and transaction processing, along with the ability to work confidently in QuickBooks.

Responsibilities:
• Maintain financial records by posting journal entries and keeping general ledger activity accurate and current.
• Assist with month-end close by preparing supporting schedules, reviewing balances, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Perform account reconciliations to confirm that financial data is complete, accurate, and properly documented.
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly and investigate variances between bank activity and internal records.
• Process accounts payable transactions, verify supporting documentation, and help ensure timely vendor payments.
• Manage accounts receivable activity by recording incoming payments, tracking outstanding balances, and following up when needed.
• Support budget tracking by comparing actual results to planned spending and identifying notable differences.
• Use QuickBooks to enter, organize, and report financial information for routine accounting operations.

Qualifications:

• Experience handling month-end close activities within a bookkeeping or accounting function.
• Working knowledge of general ledger maintenance, journal entry preparation, and financial record accuracy.
• Ability to perform account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Experience supporting budget management or monitoring financial performance against budget.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks for daily bookkeeping and reporting tasks.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple accounting priorities effectively.

Compensation

$30.00-$38.00 Hourly
