Director of Accounting/Controller (Miami Beach)
We are looking for an experienced accounting leader to guide financial operations and reporting for a stable and growing organization. This role combines strategic oversight with day-to-day execution, making it ideal for someone who enjoys staying close to the details working directly with ownership while driving objectives and a successful small team.
The ideal candidate has 5 years of leadership experience and comes from the Travel industry or a Service-Industry field with a hands-on approach and strong communication skills in English & Spanish to work effectively with both executive leadership and multilingual staff.
Location: Miami Beach
Schedule: Mon - Fri; In-office
Salary: $120,000-$130,000 (with some stretch to $140,000)
Bonus: around 10% min , generous ownership

Responsibilities:
• Lead the full accounting cycle, ensuring accurate recording of financial activity and timely completion of all core accounting functions.
• Direct the month-end close process and prepare complete financial statements and management reports for leadership review.
• Oversee accounts payable and billing operations, maintaining accuracy, consistency, and strong internal controls across both areas.
• Manage financial reporting activities, ensuring results are clearly presented and aligned with company objectives and compliance standards.
• Support internal audit readiness and strengthen accounting policies and procedures to promote regulatory and operational compliance.
• Act as a hands-on leader by personally contributing to key accounting tasks while mentoring and developing the accounting team.
• Partner closely with senior leadership and other stakeholders to provide financial insight, communicate results, and support sound business decisions.
• Apply industry knowledge to revenue-focused accounting environments, particularly within travel or other service-based businesses where customer service delivery drives revenue recognition and allocation.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.• CPA designation or active eligibility to obtain it is preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with increasing leadership responsibility.
• Strong background in month-end close, financial reporting, and preparation of financial statements.
• Experience supervising accounts payable, billing, and audit-related activities within a controlled accounting environment.
• Prior experience in the travel industry or another service-based business model is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English with executive leadership; Spanish language skills are strongly preferred to support communication with staff.
• Proven leadership ability with a hands-on approach, including experience coaching teams within stable, growth-oriented organizations.
Compensation
