What You Will Do

  • Provide strategic leadership for a broad portfolio of student engagement programs, including Student Government, student organizations and involvement, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and student leadership development within the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub.
  • Serve as the primary advisor to Student Government, providing leadership and guidance to the Executive Board, Student Senate, committees, elections, and other governance processes.
  • Lead the University's approach to student organizations and involvement, providing strategic direction for policies, advising structures, resources, recognition processes, and systems that support a vibrant and effective student organization community.
  • Provide strategic oversight for Fraternity and Sorority Life, working with professional staff to support fraternity and sorority chapters and governing councils, strengthen leadership development and community standards, and promote a positive and successful fraternity and sorority experience.
  • Advance student leadership development across the portfolio by identifying opportunities, establishing strategies, and creating meaningful experiences that prepare students to lead, contribute, and succeed within the University community and beyond.
  • Supervise, develop, and support a team of professional, graduate, and student staff, establishing priorities and expectations while providing coaching, professional development, and direction across multiple functional areas.
  • Oversee budgets, financial resources, policies, and administrative processes supporting Student Government, student organizations, Fraternity and Sorority Life, and leadership initiatives, exercising independent judgment in complex student and organizational matters.
  • Serve as a member of the Kimmel Belonging and Engagement Hub leadership team, collaborating with campus partners and University leadership to shape departmental strategy, strengthen the student experience, and foster student belonging, engagement, leadership, and success.

FLSA: Exempt

Must be available for occasional evening and weekend responsibilities.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

-Bachelors degree.
-A total of three (3) years (36 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Masters Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
AND
-Master's degree, preferably Student Affairs, Higher Education, College Student Personnel, or related field.
-3+ years of progressively responsible higher education/student affairs experience, including supervisory and budget management experience.
Years can be concurrent with above

Preferred Qualifications

-Demonstrated experience in student leadership, student governance, student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, campus involvement, or related areas.
-Demonstrated ability to interpret, develop, and implement policies and procedures and apply institutional policies to complex student and organizational situations.
-Demonstrated experience supervising, developing, and evaluating professional and/or student staff.
-Strong administrative, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple complex functional areas.
-Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills.
-Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, community partners, and other stakeholders.
-Ability to work effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and contribute to a campus environment that fosters belonging, engagement, and student success.
-Ability to exercise independent judgment and appropriately manage sensitive or complex student and organizational matters.

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Drivers License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days is grounds for immediate separation.
