Job Description:

Financial Translator - Spanish (Latin American)

New York/ Hybrid based

Dow Jones Newswires is seeking two AI-literate translators fluent in Spanish and English to join its growing team of linguists and be a key player in ensuring accuracy while constantly monitoring the quality of our autotranslation model.

The successful candidate will assess and improve the autotranslation from English to Spanish of Dow Jones Newswires financial, business, and economic news.

Our model in this case will be based on Latin American Spanish. The job holder will be expected to demonstrate strong skills in prompt engineering and experience with building glossaries to improve translation consistencies and outcomes.

This is a full-time contract with office attendance on a hybrid basis at our Americas HQ in New York City.

You Will:
  • Be responsible for tasks related to R&D and QA for English-to-Spanish autotranslation, including:
    • Spot-checking autotranslated output on a daily basis
    • Document and track translation quality metrics to monitor trends, identify improvement areas and support continuous enhancement
    • Implementing the correction policy for Spanish products
    • Building and maintaining glossaries
    • Designing, testing, and iteratively refining prompts to continuously enhance the quality, accuracy, and style of our autotranslated financial news
    • Regularly communicating and sharing ideas with global colleagues to enhance the autotranslation quality and work efficiency
    • Interacting with different stakeholders (Product, Editorial, customers, and partners)
  • Assist with translating pre-defined templates for generating automated content and other translation-related work that may be required by the business


You Have:
  • A native level of Spanish (C2)
  • A strong understanding of Spanish culture in particular that of Latin America to ensure appropriateness and cultural compliance
  • Demonstrable experience in LQA and Machine Translation Post-Editing (MTPE)
  • Strong experience using CAT tools - specially for building and implementing glossaries
  • Excellent knowledge of financial & economic news & terminology in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with machine translation and GenAI
  • Preferably some experience in a financial-focused newsroom
